Timaru is a town on the East coast of the South Island. Timaru's economy is based mainly on farming and fishing.

There is plenty to do at night in Timaru. Try taking a dolphin cruise, visit the Aigantighe Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden or try a game of golf, bowls or tennis.

It is close to the Southern Alps for skiing in winter. There is safe swimming in summer.
